Schule / Schulé / Schülé im Kanton Neuchâtel

I am trying to find the parents of Nelly Helene Schule who was born 22.11.1912 possibly in Neuchatel.
She married Eduardo Giovanni Turtach and lived in Geneva until she died there in 2003. She was a professional singer (classical) in her earlier years, and later taught singing.

The spellling Schule is not mentioned in the Swiss Surname Registry. There are, however,

Schulé: citizens of Les Verrières NE since the 19th century.

Schülé: citizens of Fenin-Vilars-Saules NE since the 19th century, plus two citizenships in VD (originating from Fenin-Vilars-Saules NE)

Schüle: many citizenships since mid-19th century, most originally from Germany, including Genève (first in 1855).

Schühle: several citizenships in the German speaking part of Switzerland, all from Germany and 20th century.

Many thanks for your reply to my email. I believe the spelling is most likely Schuele (sorry I have an English keyboard without any accents) as this is the spelling which appears in the FAO of Geneva regarding Nelly's death. On behalf of my husband I am trying to ascertain what relationship Nelly had to his mother, who was born a Philippin in Neuchatel. We believe Nelly was related to the maternal side of the family, Calame-Longjean of canton Neuchatel, as she was always present at family gatherings.

If she (or rather her father) was a citizen of Fenin-Vilars-Saules, they should be in the Civil Register of this community - now kept at the Civil Registry Office in Boudevilliers: you have to scroll down to get their email address.

Whether they will give you any info is a different matter: the Swiss Civil Registry Ordinance is rather restrictive. However, you cannot really loose by asking
- whether the family can be identified in the register, and
- what you are expected to do (and pay) to get a Familienschein.

Thank you for getting in touch. I was looking through some old family photos and came across one with Nelly Turtach and her husband at a family party. This prompted us to enquire about her ancestors and how they tie in with my husband's.
