Brun im Kanton Wallis

Beitrag von Belmel » Fr 11. Nov 2016, 19:12

My name is Maria Izabel, I am Brazilian, and I am a member of the Andrade family in Brazil. A cousin and I are trying to make our genealogical tree and for that, we are looking for our ancestors who came from Switzerland.

We need information on the parents of Jean Baptiste Brun and his wife Marie (Mane) Jacobine Thomas, who were married in Valais between 1794 and 1801 (we are trying to find their marriage certificate).
I would like to know how and where I can get this information. Is there a phone or e-mail so I can contact? Is it possible to get the information online?

The information I have about Jean Baptiste Brun and his wife Marie Jacobine Thomas is the following:
1778 - Was born - Valais, Suisse, Around 1778
1801 - Son’s birthday: Jean Pierre Brun, Around 1801
1803 - Son’s birthday: Frédéric François (Francisco) Brun, 1 September 1803
1805 - Son’s birthday: Jean (Johann) Gaspar Bron, Saxon, Valais, Suisse, 20 December 1805
1808 - Daughter’s birthday: Marie Bron (Brun) Saxon, Valais, Suisse, Around 1808
1809 - Son’s birthday: Maurice Joseph (José Maurício) Brun, Saxon, Martigny, Valais, Suisse, Around 1809
1813 - Daughter’s birthday: Marie Thérèse (Maria Tereza) Bron (Brun), Saxon, Valais, Suisse, 25 août 1813
1819 - Son’s birthday: Sebastien Brun, Pays-Bas, 15 septembre 1819
1822 - Daughter’s birthday: Joana Maria Brun, Nova Friburgo, Rio de Janeiro, Brésil, 20 juillet 1822

First: welcome to the forum, Maria Izabel :D!

As Valais is not my area of expertise, I cannot help a lot. Brun and Braun (Braun meaning "brown" and Brun being the Swiss-German pronounciation of Braun) are fairly common names, mostly in German speaking areas of Switzerland. The only pre-1800 citizenship in Valais (according to the Register of Swiss Surnames) are the Brun of Riddes - so this may be a good place to start your research.

The distance from Riddes to Saxon is only about 4 km.
