Roth in Pfeddersheim

Beitrag von rhodesjk » Fr 29. Okt 2021, 19:08

I am seeking more information on the Roth family who lived in Pfeddersheim from at least 1720 until 1733-1736. There was an elder Heinrich Roth who was born 16 June 1688, location unknown, and died in Pennsylvania, British Colonial America in 1754. He was married to a woman named Catherina and had at least three children born in Pfeddersheim, which is shown on the Pfeddersheim church register. There is what appears to be a younger Johann Henrich Roth, also married to a Catherina, shown on the register, who sponsored three baptisms in Pfeddersheim. He appears to have been a farmer employed by H. Camer and Rath Trapp. I know Rath Trapp appears to have been an administrator for the local rulers. The elder Heinrich was a courtier for a Philipp Trapp, assistant to the Duke of Pfalz. I would appreciate more information on these men, including their place of birth. I suspect the younger Heinrich may be a son or nephew of the elder. The elder Heinrich emigrated to Philadelphia on the ship Samuel in 1733 and settled in what is now Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. The younger one may have emigrated on an unknown ship in 1736, according to Werner Hacker's records. I am trying to learn if he is my 5th great-grandfather Heinrich (Henry) Roth/Rhodes who settled in Frederick County, Maryland, later in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, dying in 1774. He is purported to have come from Mannheim but I haven't been able to confirm his place of origin.
