Lehmann und Irmler aus Sawade Gruenberg Schlesien

Beitrag von nokasch » Di 17. Feb 2009, 19:56

Hallo liebe Freunde,

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have seen your genealogical records in Geneanet. I know your listed language is German, but I hope you can get someone to translate my email for you.

I notice that you have many Lehmanns in your family tree.

My name is Trevor Lehmann and I live in South Australia. My great great grandfather was Gottfried Lehmann and he emigrated to South Australia on the Danish ship "Skjold" in 1841 with his wife Anna Elisabeth (nee Irmler) and their 8 children from Prussia in 1841. I have plenty of information on my ancestry within Australia, but have been unable to find out anything about my ancestry in Germany. I was wondering whether in your extensive research, you have come across any information relating to my branch of Lehmanns. If you have, I would be very grateful if you could email it to me.

The information that I have is that Gottfried was born in Sawade Gruenberg Silesia on 22 February 1797. Anna Elisabeth Irmler was also born in Sawade about 1805.
They emigrated to Australia to escape religious perecution of the "Old Lutherans" by Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia.

Gottfried's occupation is listed as a water miller in the ship's manifest.

I have no information about their lives or ancestors in Germany and would like to go back further in my familiy's history if possible.

Hoping you can help (hoping you can read my email).

Kind regards,

Trevor

Hallo,

Raimund

Hello Trevor

I have Gottfried Lehmann and his wife Anna Elisabeth Irmler in my database: https://gedbas.genealogy.net/person/show/1378338740 . They got married in 1826, but unfortunately the church records of this peroiod were lost in the war. The marriage shows up in the newspaper https://zbc.uz.zgora.pl/dlibra/publicat ... 86/content on page 8. They had four children between 1827 and 1832, and only for the daughter born in 1832 the baptism record still exists (see the link under "sources"). Here, Gottfried's occupation is "Häusler und Krämer" (house owner and grocer). As far as I know there was no water mill in Sawade, so he may have moved to another place after 1832. Also, the newspaper didn't report any children of him born after 1832. This can, however, also be due to their religion. The newspaper covered only the two main churches, protestants ("Evangelische") and catholics. Old-lutherans, jewish and others were ignored. So, the family may have stayed in Sawade but turned away from the main church.

In general, family research in Sawade (and Grünberg) is difficult in the time from 1749 to 1824, because almost all church records were lost during the war.

Best regards
Ronny

Hallo Raimund

https://gedbas.genealogy.net/person/anc ... 1378339421

Man müsste ins 18.

Gruss, Ronny
