Finding records at State Archive Bern website

Beitrag von Debra Palmer » Di 17. Sep 2024, 18:15

Hello,

I found some baptism and death records in Münster parish, Bern BE (beginning in the year 1769) at familysearch, using this page - see 1st link below. I cannot find some of the same records at the State Archive Bern website (in Münster parish the "Ausburger-Taufrödel" begins in the year 1811" and the "Ausburger-Totenrödel" begins in the year 1816) - see 2nd link below. An example is the baptism record for Maria Magdalena Rüfenacht (year 1769, page 117, entry 125), which I found in the church book, St.A.B., BXIII, 562. Am I missing something when I looked at the State Archive Bern website? Could some of the records be in a different parish (rather than in Münster)?

FYI - I did find a death record for Maria Magdalena Rüfenacht in Münster parish (image 21, page 36, entry 147) - see link below.

Have you tried http://www.query.sta.be.ch/detail.aspx?ID=234631 - you may have to click on "im Archivplan lokalisieren" on the left side to get any further.

Thanks, Wolf, for the link to the Zivilstand (Kirchenbücher) page and your suggestion, "to click on im Archiveplan ...". Those two links were the right ones to find the Ausburger baptism records in Münster parish during the 1700s. I found Maria's baptism record in 1769 and now I can find her children's baptism records.

How do I find the Zivilstand (Kirchenbücher) page if I'm on the main page of the State Archive website and was the link I sent for the main page?

Don't ask me, how I found it - a long time ago - and just bookarked it. It's complicated:

I am sure there are good reasons for having these church records completely separated from the others - but I cannot explain it.

I am glad you found what you were looking for.

Wolf, the picture you attached showing both links to the "Zivilstand (Kirchenbücher)" and to the "Kirchenbücher" on the same page, is very helpful. I bookmarked it. Thanks again.
