Miville de canton de Fribourg

I am researching Pierre Miville dit la Suisse of Canton Fribourg. He was born circa 1602 and emigrated to France where he resided in Brouage, France under the Cardinal of Richelieu. He married Charlotte Mauger or Maugis of Saintonge, France around 1629. They had several children and immigrated to Quebec, Canada in 1649. Many documents indicate Pierre Miville's origin of Fribourg yet nothing can be found before he appears in Brouage. Records indicate he was a master carpenter and capitaine de la cote de Lauzon, de la Rochelle, Canada. He was imprisoned 1 July 1664 for trying to capture men from a ship and banned from Quebec. His wife acted as his representative in his business affairs until his death in 14 Oct 1669 in Lauzon, Quebec, Canada. All known documents indicate he was a member of the upper class and important in his role both in Bourage and Quebec. Any suggestions, assistance and direction is greatly appreciated!

De nombreux documents indiquent l'origine Pierre Miville de Fribourg encore rien ne peut être trouvée avant qu'il apparaisse à Brouage. Les dossiers indiquent qu'il était un maître menuisier et capitaine de la Côte de Lauzon, de la Rochelle, le Canada. Il a été emprisonné 1 Juillet 1664 pour essayer de capturer les hommes à partir d'un navire et interdit de Québec. Sa femme a agi comme son représentant dans ses affaires jusqu'à sa mort en 14 octobre 1669 à Lauzon, Québec, Canada. Tous les documents connus indiquent qu'il était un membre de la classe supérieure et important dans son rôle à la fois dans Bourage et au Québec. Toute suggestions, l'assistance et la direction est grandement appréciée!

I wish you good luck with your research - but even the Historical Dictionary of Switzerland is rather vague about the origin of Pierre Miville, and mainly reports on his time in France and Canada.

There doesn't seem to be a connection to the Miville families in Genève and Basel.

Thank you for your reply. Since he does appear in the Historical Dictionary of Switzerland, can I safely assume this is where he was born? Perhaps all the clues are in Brouage and his family in France as well. Thank you again!

Well ... these articles are written by serious historians, and are fairly recent: for the author this vague information was the best he could do ... so I would consider it correct to just adopt this statement.
