Sorry - I don't understand your question - could you post it in English?

Hi Craig
The data you are looking for are available, depending upon place of birth and religion at different places. Without detailed infos your question can't be answered.

... if you are looking for the emigration to the US then try the Ellis Island Database. E.g., an Alfons Kolb from Johannesburg, South Africa, emigrated in 1913 to the US.
In the Familennamenbuch you can find the roots of the Kolb in the canton Thurgau.

Sorry for the poor translation. It relates to my great grandfather from the Canton of Thurgau (town Guttingen). I believe he was Protestant. He immigrated to South Africa at the end of the 19th century but I believe he returned a few times to Switzerland in the early 20th century. I simply wish to find out when he was there and if any of his children were born there, in the Canton of Thurgau. Thanks.

OK - you are looking for Kolb of Güttingen in canton Thurgau: I have renamed the thread accordingly - please, let me know if I misunderstood.
From Familiennamenbuch I can confirm that Kolb have been citizens of Güttingen since before 1800.
To my knowledge there are no lists surviving until today, showing when people (after emigration) returned to Switzerland for visits.
On the other hand - if he emigrated after 1876 he should be listed in the Civil Registry of his place of citizenship (let us assume Güttingen for the time being) - and if he kept his Swiss citizenship for the time being, his children should be registered there as well, irrespective of where they were born (which required, of course, that the fact was forwarded to the office). I would therefore recommend you contact the Zivilstandsamt Kreuzlingen (move mouse over the name), which also covers Güttingen, and ask if your ancestor can be identified on their register - and what you are expected to do to get a Familienschein. Give as much info as you can: the easier it is for them, the better are your chances to get a response!
Good luck - Wolf
