Hello,

I have seen the Website Spekkies but I don't understand nothing. The other Website in England, have you just contacted?
It was wonderfull if it is Rütschelen Village of Canton of Berne, the blazon are similary of yours a little. Matthys in Canton Bern have two blazons differents (Lion, or Ploughshare of plow) with many variants).
For la Chaux-de-Fonds I have just said that we have two entryes of citizen of Canton Berne (one of Bleienbach at 1887 and one of Rütschelen at 1898).
I want don't disturb your research with several informations.

I think it is better contact the Website of England and see if Rütschelen it's correct or no for xour tree. After we can continue the research.

With best salutatations.
Pierre

Votre Message :

Dear Pierre,

I understand I can also write in English? This makes it a lot easier for me, but I hope you will understand everything, otherwise please say so.

I have investigated the Rütschelen Mathys family and at the moment I do not think that my family is connected to the one in Rütschelen. Maybe I will discover a connection later on, but for now there is none.

So you need to now that all the information I have is through my mothers memory and written letters. This is why I am not sure where my great-grandfather came from (Georges Mathys), in two different letters the two cities are mentioned: La Chaux-de-Fonds and Bern. However, my mother mentioned that her father had said, that her grandfather came from the Canton of Neuchâtel, so I think it is more sensible to assume that my great-grandfather came from La Chaux-de-Fonds, for that lies in Neuchâtel.

A Swiss friend has a cd with all the baptism-records from ±1500 until 1875. Unfortunately George Mathys was not born before 1875, my guess is that he was born around 1900 (±5 - 10). So for my research it is important to know when he was born and who were his parents? Also I am very interested to know in what happened to him after he came back to Switzerland in the 1930's.

Thanks very much,

Robert

ps. To see parts of my family tree at myheritage.nl, you need to subscribe an account (it's free, and you can also do it at myheritage.com), but only if you are interested in the tree.
