These are my great-grandparents; the couple had 14 children.
Meine Urgrosseltern sind Maria Idda Fischer (1867-1946) und Josef Felix Bütler (*1860). Maria Idda ist, wie die meisten ihrer Geschwister, nach Neuseeland ausgewandert (wo sie auch geheiratet hat). Nur die Schwester Maria Elizabetha (1849-1915) blieb in der Schweiz zurück: mit Nachkommen von Maria Elizabetha würde ich gerne in Kontakt treten.

Der älteste bekannte Vorfahr Fischer ist Joseph Vinzenz Fischer von Merenschand AG (1795-1878), verheiratet mit Anna Maria Os(s)wald (1826-1895). Die Angaben zu den Kindern (obige Zusammenstellung) sind hoffentlich auch ohne Englischkenntnisse verständlich. Ich suche weitere Angaben zu den Vorfahren des Ehepaares.

Another child - who migrated to NZ - but perhaps he changed his name for some reason as I can not seem to fit him in:

Jacob Leonz FISCHER died 18 March 1882, Midhirst, Taranaki, New Zealand aged 48 years - so he would have been born abt 1834. The Death Certificate says he was born Merendshwand, Muri, Canton Aargau, Switzerland, his parents were named as Vinzenz FISCHER (farmer) and Rosa FISCHER formerly STOCKER of Switzerland. Death Witnesses were: Frances SCHWIESS and his nephew Dominick FISCHER the son of his brother Augustin FISCHER.

Death Certificate: states he was married to Katharina HAUWEIS and he was aged 27 years when he married. He had one daughter and one son when he died. The son's name was Anton Gottfried FISCHER. On the son Anton Gottfried FISCHER'S Death Certificate it states he was born in Bavaria so would have been born abt 1866 and aged about 11 years when he arrived in New Zealand. He died 2 Dec 1942 at New Plymouth Public Hospital aged 76 years - he was a Retired Farmer. Aged 26 he married Margaret POLE (Maiden name HUGHSON) on 6 Jan 1892.

Regarding Fischer family in NZ. There appears to be a old Photo album with a Fischer family for sale on NZ Trademe, it may or may not belong to your family. The Auction end on the 20 Aug. 2010. It may be worth checking out.

I will be bidding to try to obtain the Photo Album - have found a Fred Fischer in Canada who is a relation directly down the family tree and his grandfather also migrated to NZ (Albert Fischer) and that is something new to the rest of us. Fred moved from NZ to Canada in 1960 so it will be interesting IF this album is connected to us.

I saw your postings about the Fischer's and I was hoping you may have some more info on Jacob Leonz Fischer, Katharina Hauweis and their family. I am try to confirm if they are the same people I am looking for. You mentioned he had a son and daughter at his time of death but you didn't post any info on the daughter. The daughter wouldn't happen to be Anastasia Fischer would it, she was born about 1864?
I have Anastasia's death cert and it states her parents as: Leonz Jacob Fischer and Katherina Hawies, I thought these names where too close to yours to be a coincidence.
Would be great if you could shed any light on this.
