Did my g grandfather possibly depart from Rotterdam ? Was this the port most used at this early date? If not from which port?

I am no expert, but I heard of people embarkating in Le Havre/France, in Bremen/Germany, and in England or Italy. You might try to find ship lists at Ellis Island or Castle Garden.

Good luck

Hi Zoll
Best regards to your nice State Wisconsin. I have ben in Madison, La Crosse, Genoa as well as some other places.

The ports mentioned by hhq are realy also very popular emigration ports. If you would indicate the name, the approx. age at the time of emigration etc. would make it easiert to give you more specific help. Especially to search the various passenger lists.

Regards from Zug
