Steiger Johann & Zinnenlauf Roxina

Je cherche des renseignements au sujet de Johann STEIGER (né en 1832/33) et sa femme Roxina (Rosa) ZINNENLAUF (née en 1839/40), qui sont des ancêtres de mon mari. Ils sont venus aux Etats-Unis de la Suisse en 1866, mais je ne sais rien de leur vie avant leur arrivée, sauf qu'ils étaient Suisse et avaient deux enfants là-bas avant d'émigrer, Mary Rosa (née en 1862) et Bertha (née en 1865). Je vous remercie d'aucune information que vous pourriez me donner!

Unfortunately Steiger is a very common name - see Occurences Staiger/Steiger in Switzerland. In other words - without any further info in their origin it's like searching for a needle in a heystack! If there is no additional info to be gained from US census data, try "Germans to America" - a source which, despite the name, also covers many Swiss emigrants.

For Zinnenlauf, on the other hand, there is only a single citizenship - see Zinnenlauf von Basel. Unfortunately this German family gained Basel citizenship as late as 1925. As there were also Steiger citizens of Basel, you might give Basel a try - but don't be too disappointed if you don't find anything.
