Looking for parents of Gottlieb Fidel Biery(i) born November 7, 1836 Entlebuch. Married Emilie Karthaus (Parents were Karl Wilhelm Karthaus and Katharina Mohr) born October 13, 1843. Married April 18, 1864. Fathers name may be Joseph Biery. Immigrated to America in 1866. Had two children in Lucern before they left. Emily and Ernst.

Would appreciate any information. Have a famiy book passed down since 1883 with information on Mohr, Schurmann, Biery and Karthaus.

Gottlieb Fidel Josef Bieri was born on 7/11/1832 in Lucerne, parents were Joseph Bieri and Walpurga Suter. He was citizien from Entlebuch, Canton Lucerne. Bieri is very known in Entlebuch, there are lots of people with this name. He married in Lucerne on 18/4/1864 Hedwig Emilie Maria Elisabeth Karthaus, born in Lucerne as a citizien from Schwammendingen, Canton Zurich, the 13/10/1843. From 1866 on the familiy lived in Louisville.

We have been trying to find out how we connect with a family member in Switzerland, we know we are related but were unable to go far enough back to find out where. I have lots of information about the Mohr Familiy in Lucerne and their descendants in Switzerland or the States. This family used to be member of the Lucerne patricians, but the last family member died 1913.
I am not related to the family Mohr/Karthaus/Bieri.

Most of information I've got from the State Archive in Lucerne.

Thank you so much for the information. We are very excited to be find out more information about the Mohr, Karthaus, Bieri family. I did get information on Jost Bernhard Mohr and when he served in the military in Spain. The Family book that I have, a lot of it is in early German script. It talks about his brothers and sisters and where he served in the military. It says that he served as president of something from 1843 to 1863. It looks like (Ruths ) Unfortuantely, it is very hard to read. I would like to share information with you if you are willing. I will gladly pay to have it sent to me or you can email it to me. I can send you a copy of the family book if you would be interested.

I am trying to find out the names and information on the children of Joseph Bieri and Walpurga Suter of Lucerne. They had a child named Gottlieb Fidel Bieri born July 11, 1832. I am trying to find out the name of his siblings.

Bieri gained citizenship of the city of Luzern as late as in the 20th century - so most likely your line will have held another citizenship. Old citizenships in canton Luzern are

plus several in canton Bern.
