Forrer have been citizens of Winterthur since before 1800 - so the Civil Registry Office Winterthur should be able to locate Leonard's parents: a "Familienschein" will combine all their vital data plus their children. I recommend you contact them and ask
- if the family can be identified, and (if yes)
- what you are expected to do (incl. pay) to get their "Familienschein": if you are not a direct descendant it may become a problem to prove "sufficient" interest to be given this information - but there is only one way to find out: try it.

These Civil Registry Offices were set up in 1876, in some cases data were collected retrospectively, in some cases not - I have no idea about Winterthur. So - if you get a Familienschein, post the data here, and other readers (more familiar with Winterthur than me) might be able to give you further hints.

Hello,
a few years ago, up until her death, I was in contact with a very wonderful and helpful lady from Winterthur named Jaqueline Forrer-Schmidt.
She was the author of a book with limited printing. If you could locate 'two' copies, I would love to have one myself. It's title was "The Forrers of Winterthur to the Tenth Generation"

Best regards.
