Re: Pletscher von Schleitheim
First of all, welcome to the forum - and a hint: English is fine on the forum and preferred to computer translations, which often are simply incomprehensible.
Now for your question: the chances to find info on Swiss people born after 1875 online are negligible. Even most church records filmed by the Mormons stop at 1875 - and (to my knowledge) Schleitheim hasn't been filmed at all.
For this group of people the usual place to ask is the Civil Registry Office responsible for the place of citizenship - the Civil Registry Office Schaffhausen is nowadays taking care of the enitire canton, i.e. also for Schleitheim.
Ask them
1) if your ancestor can be identified on their register, giving as much information as you have, and - if yes -
2) what you have to do (and pay!) to get a "Familienschein" for Christian Pletscher and Margaretha Meier: this will contain all vital data of the couple and at least dates of birth for all children. Usually (if the register dates back further) also the vital data of parents and parents-in-law will be included.
Then get back here with this information: the further back your data extend, the better are the chances to find help here.

Re: Pletscher von Schleitheim
Thank You for taking the time to write back and the much appreciated tip on English. I imagine my translated version was a mess. You confirmed what I was finding regarding records, I was just surprised as so many other less progressive areas have done so, and I just thought I may be looking in the wrong place. I recently did some research in Bohemia on my great grandmother and found everything online.
I have attached the record I have for my great grandfather Henrich (Henry) Pletscher. I already have contacted the register office and offered just as you had also suggested and have been waiting a couple months now for a reply. The areas that have a star next to them, I am struggling to understand or translate. I believe the comment section might be the notation of a listing of their own page after they were married. The file size is limited on here so I am not sure of you can read this copy or not.

Re: Pletscher von Schleitheim SH
Hello "Rochelle0615",
your fear is correct - the copy is rather small and several bits just cannot be deciphered: did you find this online - or on a film (Mormons) - or ...? It would also be interesting (with all copied documents) to know exactly what it is; in this case I assume the "Bürgerregister" Schleitheim - correct?
I am not sure about the stars - they look like added at a later stage (at the time when some English words were added?). On the second page we find a star next to "Taufzeugen" (godparents) - but I have my doubts that a star is always connected to godparents. There is also a star next to "???" (typed) - so it could mean that whoever added the stars, wanted to indicate (s)he wasn't sure what it said.
First a correction, however: in your first post you state "Henrich Pletscher geboren 4. November 1886" - he was actually born 4th Nov 1869 - Easter 1886 he was confirmed. Parents were
Christian Pletscher 22 March 1833 - 24 Aug 1894
married 06 Feb 1862 to
Margaretha Meier .3 July 1835 - 11 Jan 1894.
And you are quite right - the note under "Bemerkungen" points to other entries, likely for Christian and Margaretha as children. On the page "Sämmtliche Kinder" reference is made to their entries as married people.
For any further comments I would like to have a higher resolution image, so I could read everything clearly. File size in the forum is limited (I believe) to 1 MB - your scan is now under 0.1 MB - so better resolution should not be a problem. I'll send you my mail address per PM - so you could also mail it to me directly

Re: Pletscher von Schleitheim SH
I forwarded that to your email. This record was forwarded to me from Willi Bächtold, Familienregister. The stars and translated words were added by me. Where you see a star is where I was not able to read, understand or translate.

Re: Pletscher von Schleitheim SH
Hello Rochelle,
Thank you for sending the high-resolution scan - I have replaced the file above with a less reduced version, to help deciphering the document.
Now for your problems, marked with a star.
In the "Eltern" section these will be the husband's and wife's fathers - for Christian Pletscher "Gratzis-Heinrichn": father will be Heinrich Pletscher with the nickname "Gratzis". I have no experience in canton Solothurn, but in several other cantons different family lines (same name) will be differentiated with such nicknames - could be an ancestor's given name, a prominent profession, a location, or something else difficult to pin down.
Margaretha Meier's father is Hs. [=Hans] Michael Meier, Zimmermanns. Now - Zimmermann is a profession (carpenter): as with father Pletscher a nickname is given, I'm fairly sure this will not necessarily be Michael's profession, but indicating that many family members (of previous generations) had been carpenters.
For "Sämmtliche Kinder" the godparents (Taufzeugen) seem to have been the same for all:
- Christian Stamm, Metzger (butcher)
- Margaretha Pletscher, patr. soror (the father's sister)
The document seems to be from a "Familienregister" compiled within the church records. Under "Bemerkungen" the "Ehb. III, 209" most likely is a reference to "Ehebuch " (marriage register) vol.III, page(?) 209 and 325 respectively.
Finally the comments on Verena (born 28 Nov 1871): she married an Ernst Brunnengertner[?] from Burgdorf, canton Bern - I am not absolutely sure about the surname as neither Brunnengertner nor Brunnengärtner are listed at all in the Swiss Surname Register, i.e. the family would have become extinct before about 1935. The husband was born 12 Oct 1870, and Verena died (the cross in the column) in Burgdorf - but no date given.
----------------
[?]Correction: Ernst Baumgartner of Bangerten BE, born in Burgdorf BE.
