Willkommen im Forum.
Es handelt sich hier um Winterbach/Pfalz, wenige km nordöstlich von Zweibrücken.
Nachbarorte: Battweiler, Bundenbach, Wallhalben, Reifenberg.

Hallo Jerry.
I had 2 sources:
Source 1:
"Reg. zum 1. ev.-ref. KB von Winterbach 1720 - 3.1770" page 22
oo 12.4.1748 notice (318/7) possible number of a document
Source 2:
"Schweizer Einwanderer im Westrich 1650-1750", editor: Zweibrücker Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Familienforschung, page 136
oo12.4.1749 notice FNB FLUCK - 8933 Maschwanden ZH 4+24/IV
Above I had written the alternative date. Because the oo was in Winterbach the "Reg. zum KB" could be more faithful, 1748!?
I could give you name of his wife (her father) and his father and of a son of an unknown brother of his wife.
Do you know children or brothers and sisters (would be interesting for me)
best wishes
Georg

Schobinger, Egli, Kläui: Zürcher Familiennamen
Hello Jerry,
may I ask where you have dug up this information? The Swiss Surname Directory (SSD) has sadly passed away many, many years ago.
Amongst other information the SSD included a complete transcript of the booklet Zürcher Familiennamen - and this is the source for the entry on Martin Flükk. As described here, the $ stands to indicate the earliest mentions of the name, known to the authors - in your case (1294) it actually is the first mention.
This is not the symbol used in the booklet - but as SSD was a simple text file, symbols available in ASCII had to be used.
Just to be on the safe side - let me repeat, whats written on the page (link above): A relation to families living today with the same name is neither proven nor assumed!

Re: Fluck von Maschwanden ZH
Wolf,
I was hoping that you personally would reply to this query. While the SSD was still functioning I submitted several queries on ancestral names, including Fluck. SSD responded in an email on 14 Jan 2000, indicating the Zuercher Familiennamen as the source. Their web site probably posted a key to all of the symbols used, but I did not note the $ at the time.
Danke

HANS RUDI FLUCK, "Meister Schmid," von Maschwanden
In the church records of Maschwanden ca. 1710 Rudi is called "der Meister Schmid." What is the significance of the title "Meister" and how was it conferred?
