Lienhard in der Schweiz

Beitrag von southern_dude21 » Mo 17. Sep 2018, 22:11

Hi everyone, I'm new to this group!

I am trying to find my great-great grandmother, Wilhelmina (Minnie) Lienhard (Lenhardt). She was born in Switzerland on 13 September 1873, and immigrated to the US around the year 1885. She lived in Black Creek Township (Weston), Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. I have already eliminated Bilten, Glarus Canton as a location. It is possible she may have been from Zofingen, but that is a guess at this point. I believe that she was Catholic. Her parents may have been John Melchoir and Wilhelmina. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide!

Tim

Hello Tim,

Lienhard (and related spellings) are unfortunately rather common in Switzerland. You'll find some very basic info on viewtopic.php?f=49&t=1814.

For an efficient search in Switzerland some more detailed info on their origin would be "useful" - to word it carefully ;). The posting linked to above lists more potential places of citizenship: without further information you may have to check them all (start with the catholic parishes) - or you just might be lucky and another reader recognises the names/dates.
