I am looking for imformation on the following families who migrated to the United States: Hauser,
Hallauer, Heill. Many came from Canton Schaffhausen, Switzerland. They migrated to the US around the 1850's. I would love to find someone who is interested in helping to connect my families to your country.

Hi - please, discuss only a single family in each thread - otherwise discussions will soon become chaotic. I have changed the thread title to Hauser only - they have been citizens of Hallau since before 1800 ... but of several other communities as well: have your ancestors actually been citizens of Hallau?

Please, start a new thread for each of the other names - without repeating too much info: related threads (e.g. by marriage) can be linked to each other.

I would also recommend you give some detail of what you know (like given names of the emigrants, year of birth - at least estimated): if readers see a potential connection to their own data, chances of them responding will be much bigger as compared to just asking for a surname.

in the net you can find the information where in Switzerland persons of the various names lived; just go to "http://www.hls-dhs-dss.ch/famn/index.php". Most of the information is translated into Englisch.

For persons coming from Schaffhausen town (and one or two villages) you will find more than 10'000 pages with "FamilySearch.org", just select (on the left hand side) "Europe", "Switzerland", "Schaffhausen". You will find church records starting around 1550, Geneaolgies and more.

in the book 'Heimatkunde und Geschichte von Hallau (1938)' on page 239 it mentions a so called 'Bürgerbüchlein of 1880'. The author quotes that it contains information about the people who left Hallau. He also mentions that the larges emigration was around the 40s and 60s of the 19th Century. However, I am not sure were to find this book today.
