I would appreciate help in finding the village where my wife's maternal grandfather was born. His name was Henri Lambert and we think he was born in1870 in a village not too far from Geneva. His father was Jacques Henri Lambert a clockmaker or jeweller. Henri came to live in London but did not take British citizenship and married an English lady, Rose, in 1905 and was 35 then. My wife Lena and I are coming to Geneva on 12 June for 5 days and would like to visit Henri's birthplace. Any help would be much appreciated. Bryan Robinson, Taplow, Maidenhead, England.

I have to inform you that your ancestor was not born in Geneva nor in one of the villages in the Canton of Geneva. He probably was born in a near village in the Canton de Vaud, but where ? this would be a very long research to be made at the Archives cantonales vaudoises in Chavanens s/Renens near Lausanne.
