Hallo,

I'm looking for a place called Halthusen. I first thought it was a place in Switserland. I got the suggestion that it might be a place in Germany.

Is there anabody who knows if this place exists or existed in the past in Germany.

Not quite: on Tischhauser von Sevelen I stated that Halthusen is not a Swiss community - but that there are several Holthusen (o - not a !) in Germany.

When looking for communities in Germany, GOV is the first site I'm checking.

The next step would be the ShtetlSeeker, which also covers Eastern Europe and has several nice features (like links to maps actually showing any of the places listed). As ShtetlSeeker also displays similar spellings, including old German names of formerly German speaking regions, you may get an overwhelming number of "hits", however.
