Hello,
Using FamilySearch.org, > Search > Catalog > input Hirschberg,
I think you want to select Germany, Preussen, Schlesian, Hirschberg. It yields 7 church records, digitized. But, a person has to go to their local Family History Center to view the microfilm using their computers.

Also, be advised that Hirschberg also gives the KREIS of Hirschberg, with many villages being listed.

Wishing you much success, Walt

Thanks for the tip, Walt.I've already looked through the Hirschberg church records (they are available online). The problem is I don't have my ancestor's date of birth. I did find one Balthasar Reisel in Hirschberg that might fit the age. But I have no proof that it is actually "my" Balthasar. I have not yet found any documents about emigrants from that time either.
Greetings from Switzerland, Monika

Hello Monika,
After the 30 year war, 1618-1648, a few of my ancestors emigrated into Germany. Here is the URL to a report on one of them.

About all you can do is document the various Reisel family groups in various places. A Y-DNA project (males only: DNA and surname track together) would give some information. BUT, it is expensive, takes a long time, frustrating due to lack of participation, and still needs a paper/records/data to confirm results. And new security rules have added to the difficulties.

Wishing you all the best, Walt
