Hello.
I need help translating this church record. I would like to know what the record states. It is from KB Kröffelbach-Kraftsolms. The record is the birth/baptism of Michael Martini, * 1681, son of Abraham MARTINI of Lückerland (oo Elisabeth EICH). I believe the Taufpaten mentioned are “Michael Eÿchel and Maria, Kilian Eÿchel’s Frau” ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, and Best Regards
Scott

translation is no problem, the challenge is to decipher. Clear to read is the line above the one on the bottom ... diese Leut sind alle in Lückerland daheim (these people are all Lückerland residents). The last line mentions that someone deceased.
To have more than the snippet of the reord in focus would allow to get aquainted with the handwriting and the general cluster. Consider to post the url of your source, or the full page of the churchbook.

Hi Scott,
I think you're right with the line about the "Taufpaten". I'm not much of an expert, but it looks to me like “Michael Eÿchel and Maria, Kilian Eÿchel’s Hausfraw", which means wife.
Greetings
Friederike

my rough transcript:
4. Craft-Solms, Dienstags den 25. Janr: ao 1681 Isaac Abraham Martini und Elisabeth, Ehleut [??? weylscher Kohlbrenner, damals in Gaimer Wald ???]
ein junger Saß, getaufft und genamt Michael ... Gevattern sind Michael Eychel: und Maria, Kilian Eychels Hausfrau; diese Leuth sind alle in Lückerland daheim. Dies Kind ist den 11. Febr. ?ejus anni? selig gestorben u. Sont. den 6. begraben worden
rough summary:
Infant Michael, baptized Tue, 25. Jan 1681, parents Isaac Abraham Martin and Elisabeth. Child died Feb 11 ?same year?, buried Sun 6th. Godfather/Godmother are already identified. All persons originate in Lückerland
blind guess is the line [??? weylscher Kohlbrenner, damals in Gaimer Wald ???], and the story I'm spinning may be totally off:
- unlike the previous records, the parents were not given as local citizens.Term Saß usually indicates some "foreigner" who obtained limited citizenship.
Internet says Lückerland refers to Belgium county of Liège - whicht might explain the odd word ??? weylscher ??? [?ynonym for Walonen?].
??? Kohlbrenner ??? might stand for the trade of charcoal burner.
Hope someone may get an input for further research from it, or else make clear it simply nonsense...

That's pretty good! The word you interpreted as "Saß" is simply "Sohn". The handwriting is a bit "eigenwillig". The family was clearly from Lückerland, the region around Lüttich.
