Ik antwoord in het engels: Please, see what I wrote about the subject under the thread Schweizer Regimenter in den Niederlanden of this Forum. To establish better, where you should search for your ancestor. On page 268 of Gens Nostra, 1987, you can read that most likely the officer in question was the Colonel-owner (not a captain anymore) G.Lochmann (1794-1796) of the Regiment, which once was known as the Regiment of Milord of Albemarle, and later always named after its last owner. In the State Archive of Zurich there are still a range of documents of this Regiment present. All depends of the year, in which your ancestor came to the regiment (The regiment finally marched back from Bergen-op-Zoom to Zurich in 1797) . Since he had a rather important rank, there might be a considerable chance to trace him and the place he came from, or had his so called Heimatrecht. About the Fehr family and its places of origin before 1800 I cannot give you any information (See: Familiennamenbuch der Schweiz - if he was of Swiss origin and not for example german, as in those years there were always foreigners in Swiss regiments).
With kind regards,

I suppose that "Flatz" means "Flaach" in northern canton of Zurich, where Fehr are citizens since before 1800 (p.e. Thomann Fehr, mentioned as "Leutpriester zu Flaach" 1466).
Kind regards
Thomas
