I am trying to find my great great grandfather, born 1825, known in England as Francis Louis Bamberger.
His marriage certificate in England says his father was Henerish (Heinrich?) Bamberger. He was of a banking family in Germany and had to flee as he was involved in the 1848 uprising.
I have found a Bamberger banking family of Mayence:
August Bamberger (b1790) married Amalie Bischoffsheim in 1818 in Mayence. I wanted to find the name of his father, perhaps it was Heinrich? Perhaps he is also the father of Francis Louis Bamberger?

Thank you for the weblink. I have had a reply from Stadt-Archives Mainz who have confirmed the records so i shall pay them ASAP and they will send them to me. It is so good to have at last found some information [:]
