Danke
Edith

Hallo Edith,
In the first place: it may be interesting to check your information under Dursteler the documents I found at www.genlias.nl and www.bhic.nl (stamboom). Of son Erhard David, a captain in the Dutch army, exists a Memorie van Successie (most probably to find at BHIC). This document is always interesting, because it has to do with taxpaying for his inheritance. And who knows his military status can be found at the Nationaal Archief in The Hague (in such documents you mostly find who are the parents and where they come from). Enclosed please find a newspaper insert about Erhard David's decease.
In a few minutes I will write a second message about your question.
Kind regards,
Bernard Krijbolder

Hallo Edith,
The Regiment Hirzel, formerly also known as the Regiment of Milord of Albemarle (Joost van Keppel) was owned by S.Hirzel between 1726 and 1755. Documents, certainly of its officers, are to be found in the cantonal archives of Zurich. In 1745 this regiment shipped from Holland to England and Scotland in order to fight against a new -and the last- uprising of the Jacobites, followers of the Stuarts, in the very bloody battle at Culloden in 1746. From 1747 on this regiment consisted only of soldiers from the canton Zurich.
I think, it is likely that publications about the Duersteler family exist. Maybe one of the forum members can answer that question. Families with the name Duersteler were -according to the Swiss Family Names Book- before 1800 citizens of the following places: Birrhard (Aargau, bur originally from Zurich), Baeretswil ZH, Egg ZH, Gossau ZH and Gruenigen ZH.
With kind regards,
Bernard Krijbolder
P.S. The church of St. John (Sint Jan) in Den Bosch was not a catholic cathedral in those days. It was claimed by the Dutch Reformed Church and called: Grote Kerk. It was given back to the Catholics during the Napoleontic period and became a cathedral after 1853. It is a spectacular gothic church.

Hallo Edith,
On the website of the Dutch National Archive, www.nationaalarchief.nl you will find under Dursteler several interesting documents. Among these ons from which appears, that your David Duersteler's full name also was Erhard David Duersteler. Apparently a grandson went to the colony of Suriname and was a major in the army.
Kind regards,
Bernard Krijbolder

Hello again
Does anyone have access to the book which came out in 1940 about the 'clan' Dursteler?
Literatur
G. Strickler, Das Geschlecht D.,1940, 22-31 (mit Werkverz.)
Since Erhard Dursteler is known as being the best source for genealogie as he wrote so much down in his time, he must have written down some data about his own siblings and children.
Could you find out if he had children, how many and their names, as well as birth and death dates?
I look forward to hearing from someone as this would go along way to solve my puzzle.
Regards
Edith

Hello to all the people who tried to help me find the Dürsteler Family. The library in Zurich sent me the pages from 22-31 of "Das Geschlecht Dürsteler" by Gustav Strickler. Unfortunately, there was no connection between that information and my Dürstelers.
I think I should be looking in the village of Grüningen, ZH for another family. If there is anyone who lives in that area I would appreciate some help.
Thanks
Regards
Edith
