I am looking for more information about my ancestor Hendrik Goijer / Hendrik Gujer / Heinrich Gujer from Bubikon.
Hendrik married Elisabeth Degenthoff and they got 2 children: Rudolf (born in 1800) and Johan Arend (born in 1793).
In the late seventeen hundreds and the early eighteen hundreds the family lived in the city of Grave, the Netherlands. Later they moved to the little town Dreumel, also in the Netherlands. The family merely stayed in that town, where my father was also born.

One of the documents I found in the dutch archives speaks of Bubichem as the place where Hendrik was baptized. Another document says Hendrik is from the canton of Zurich.
Like Gujer has become Goijer in Dutch, Bubichem is probably Bubikon.

I would like to know more about Hendrik. Who were his parents? Did he have any siblings? Et cetera.
Who can help me?

Gujer are citizens at Bubikon since before 1800, so I think that “Bubichem“ is Bubikon.

A man called Heinrich Gujer married a woman called Verena Knecht in Bubikon in 1771 (“Zürcher Familiennamen“). These might be the parents of your Hendrik.

I have two hints to the birth date of Hendrik. One states that he was born in October 1764. The other states that he died at age 91 in 1852, which makes his birth year 1761.
His wife Maria Elisabeth Degenthof was born on 1 April 1764.

This makes it unlikely that Heinrich and Verena Knecht are Hendrik's parents.

But thank you for the quick reaction!

Der Name stammt ursprünglich vomn Wort “Gutjahr“, was “Neujahrstag“ (1. Januar) bedeutet.

Gruss
