Welker family from Hausen

Beitrag von scott » Mi 17. Mär 2010, 02:08

I am looking for information on the parents of Anna Katherine W. Welker (b. April 17, 1865, d. October 22, 1952) of Hausen, Bavaria and her future husband Konrad Nögel (b. March 12, 1858, d. July 14, 1911), also from somewhere in Bavaria.

Anna Welker's parents names are recorded as Joannis Welker (b. ?, d. ?) and Margaretha Welker (b. ?, d. ?) on her marriage certificate written in Goldenthal, Wisconsin, USA.

Many thanks,

scott

Hallo Scott,

Welkers are registered in the phone book of Hausen, Nürnberg area. Another Hausen is near Regensburg, plus several smaller villages with the same name. Last not least, in history terretories along the Rhine River were Bavarian - so there are many haystacks your needle might be in.

Are there any relatives that may have kept an old letter? Did you check the home towns of Annas and Katherines among the 300 Welkers of the Ellis Island passenger lists?

Your chance to find traces would improve a lot if you had any additional informations.

Good luck!

Thanks for this. Yes, I have gone through as many records as I can. I know that Anna Welker was from the Hausen that is on the river Regnitz. I wonder whether anyone has access to church records for that city.

best,

scott

Most Bavarian church books are kept in central church archives, which would be Landeskirchliches Archiv der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche Bayerns (protestant) or Diözesanarchiv Erzdiözese Bamberg (catholic). Google supplies links.

Maybe LDS has microfilms? If not, you would have to find someone that takes some effort and go to check in Nürnberg or Bamberg.

Good luck again!
